Sharing stories on Skogsbergh during a festival night honoring the 90th
Anniversary of the Covenant in 1975, A. Eldon Palmquist began to wax eloquent over the virtues and spirit of Skogsbergh’s wife In the process, wanting to lift up all spouses who serve alongside Covenant ministers, often with insufficient recognition, he said, “By the way, we’ve always had and still do have a number of remarkable mistresses in our Covenant parsonages!”
It got quiet at first, very quiet, until roars of laugher--like waves that could not be reversed--swept through those assembled from back to front. Realizing finally what he had said, Palmquist turned to me quietly on the stage and said, “Well, at least they now have a memory, too!”
